BCG and Intel collaborated on a project to optimize BCG’s archives, which contain decades worth of reports and presentations, for better accessibility by employees. Before, keyword searches were conducted and each document had to be clicked through to determine relevance. With the new AI system, employees can ask questions and the system can provide answers based on the archives or generate document summaries.
Intel designed a supercomputer equipped with Xeon central processors and Habana AI chips to create the new system. This allowed Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to maintain control of its data as Intel developed the software and supercomputer for the project.
Intel and BCG have announced plans to commercialize their AI technology, which allows companies to train their AI systems using proprietary data without having to share it with Intel or BCG. The companies will target industries with strict regulations on data storage and sharing, such as financial services.
